All About Me
So I get home from seeing Jimmy Carter at UC Irvine this morning--luscious, lovely, heartmelting day--to find a letter from Loretta Sanchez.
"Dear Rebecca," she writes. (That's me!)
"The Orange County Community Forum is delighted to inform you that a nomination letter has been submitted on your behalf for the possibility of being honored as one of our community's "Women Who Make a Difference in Orange County[.]"
Who, little ol' me????
Even better (if possible), the shindig is at the UFCW union hall.
Sadly, I will be winging my way to Seattle for a secret (shhh!) job interview, so Commie Mom has delightedly agreed to represent me at the reception. Which will be followed by an original play: "Speaking Up!" honoring notable women through history.
I'm hoping for Emma Goldman--who, as Larry explained it, "1869-1940. Anarchist, labor organizer, writer and revolutionary. Made enough trouble to get deported to Russia in the 1920's. Did not want to be party to any revolution that didn't have dancing. May have killed some guys."
