Quote of the Day: Jiminy!

"I've been in this business 27 years in the public eye here. I don't go around anywhere hitting on men, and by God, if I did, I wouldn't do it in Boise, Idaho! Jiminy!"

--Idaho Sen. Larry Craig, in a May interview with the Idaho Statesman

Even Freaking Better

Sunday, August 26, 2007

Orange County Health and Human Services Dept: IN ACTION!

I got the following notices on the same day regarding my son's Medi-Cal.

*Although you would otherwise have a Share of Cost in the month of 9/2007, we have determined that you may be eligible for the Healthy Families Program [HFP], which provides low cost health coverage to children such as you. For this reason, your no-cost Medi-Cal coverage will continue through the end of 9/2007 while your application is being evaluated for HFP. Beginning 10/2007, your share of cost will be $321 [per month]. You have not consented, therefore we will not forward your information to HFP.

*Your application for Medi-Cal benefits has been approved. As of 9/2007, you are entitled to receive Medi-Cal benefits.

*Your child is not eligible for benefits under the Continuing Eligibility for Children Program. Here's why: The annual redetermination is over.

*Your worker has changed.

I then got two notices saying Medi-Cal had been denied because I did not fill out the necessary paperwork--would you be surprised that I never received it?--both notices saying the Medi-Cal would end the last day of August. They were postmarked Aug. 22.
